The Jewish Federation and the Coalition for Jewish Education Make Summer Experiences Possible!

No matter what the season, the Jewish Federation’s Coalition for Jewish Education (CJE) is thinking about summer.  Shabbat around the lake, Havdallah in the woods, camping trips and lifelong friendships; where else can you experience these and more than at a Jewish summer overnight camp?  How does snorkeling in Eilat sound?  What about experiencing Jewish history where history was made? Few experiences have been shown to be more effective in fostering proud Jewish identity in young people than Jewish summer camp experiences and trips to Israel.

Summer of a Lifetime in Israel!

Through the Tucson Hebrew High Israel Experience program, teens can receive a $500 subsidy to any accredited Israel summer program.  Included in the expansive list of programs is the Tucson community TIPS (formerly AZ-IS) 4-week summer trip to Israel as well as the March of the Living.  Additional need-based scholarships are available for the TIPS Israel trip.

The Rabbi Arthur R. Oleisky Outstanding Jewish Teen Award provides one outstanding Jewish teen with community recognition and funding to help make their Israel trip a reality.  The award is open to teens in grades 10 and 11, 12th graders participating in the March of the Living may apply.  Applicants for the award complete an essay, application and personal interview.  Click here for more information and download the application.

CJE Offers Scholarships for Summer Camps

If campfires and swimming are more your speed, the CJE offers need-based scholarships to Jewish overnight camps.  A Camp Fair is held in January/February  for parents and campers to learn about Jewish camping opportunities throughout the United States.  Click on the link to download the scholarship application.
